The last day of 2011 and first day of 2012 didn’t seem to register any sort of impression on the little princess. She slept right through it all. Though we haven’t been big NYE celebrants in many years, the changing of the calendar has more symbolic meaning this time. 2011 will go down in history as the worst of times and the best of times for us. We were overjoyed to welcome Addison to the family but we also watched her hovering on the precipice of life and death…something no parent should ever have to endure.
2012 is going to be a great year. I just know it. Last week, we booked our first international trip with Addison! In October, we are going to Hong Kong to visit my sister Sonya and her husband Ben and meet their new baby boy (scheduled to arrive on or about June 4). We are hoping to get the green light from the medical team to go on a trip before that, in April or May before I return to work. I am still dreaming of Italy but we would be happy to go anywhere. I think we all need a little break and something to look forward to that doesn’t involve medical milestones or hospital appointments.
For New Year’s resolutions, our list is pretty short this year – good health, happiness and lots of love! Those are really the most important things in life. Wishing the same to all of you in 2012.
