All I want for Christmas is a Clifford the Big Red Dog for Addison…and for Momma?

My Big Red Dog!!

My Big Red Dog!!

There is just one gift that is on my Christmas list, yet it is something no one can give me quite yet. I want a cure for the transplant disease. I know it’s coming. I just need it to be a reality before our sparkling little girl actually needs it. As you know, Aaron and I launched the Addison Fund last month, with the sole purpose of raising funds for transplant research. We set ourselves a lofty goal of $50,000 to support two Venture Grants through the Transplant Research Foundation of BC. We have been blown away by the kindness and generosity of our friends and family, plus supporters we have never even met. Thanks to all of you, we are more than 10% of the way there! We know there is a lot more we need to do before we can reach the top, and then after that, the bar gets set higher and higher. Until there is a cure. Until transplant patients and their families don’t have to live on borrowed time. Until we can promise patients such as Addison they will be celebrating many more Christmas holidays to come.

While we delight in watching our Princess revel in the magic of Christmas, we also stop and remember all those families who are trying to cope with the ache of the loss of a child. No matter how many days, months or years it’s been, it’s a pain that never goes away. There are so many little ones who are no longer here. Please, cherish all the moments you have with the ones you love. Celebrate Christmas with love and joy in your heart and appreciate all that you have.

Merry Christmas!

Love,

Elaine, Aaron and Addison

PS You have one week to make a charitable donation to get a tax receipt for the 2013 tax year. Any donations over $200 get a 20% tax credit! Not that I’m trying to convince you to support the Addison Fund with your hard-earned dollars… ❤
