It has only been a month since Addison’s last Transplant Clinic, but we had to squeeze in an extra check-up this week because our medical team wanted to give us the once-over before we take off on another adventure. Thankfully, the Princess continues to impress with her good health and we are good to go. Vive la France!
We lowered her main anti-rejection drug a teensy bit last time to see if that would make a difference in the kidney numbers. And we also decided to ramp up the liquids without increasing milk (too much protein which can create more work for the kidneys). The “water mook” – a rather bland mix of warm water and milk – is a big hit with Addison. The combination of more liquids and less Tac seems to help keep creatinine and BUN at closer to normal ranges. Since her Tac blood level still has wiggle room, after we get back from vacation we are going to lower the dose yet again. We aren’t due back for clinic until later in the spring for her annual biopsy…three years already??!!!
February has been a month of several milestones – including first time skiing, tobogganing, and sleeping in a real big girl bed. Addison also became quite the little Team Canada fan, cheering on the red team (and every so often the blue team) during the Olympics.
This weekend we are leaving for France. Woohoo! The Princess is most excited about visiting the land of croissants and the Eiffel Tower. I would say Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to two weeks of relaxation, but if you spend 10 minutes in the presence of our headstrong little tornado, you can see why that is merely fantasy. At the very least, there will be many laughs…plus chocolates, pastries and red wine for the non-toddlers in the group.
