As you will have read by now, Elaine has had a bit of a challenging week. Wonky numbers, a stubborn rash, and an outright refusal to sleep in the afternoons has meant a great deal of angst for Addison’s Mommy. (That means Addie’s Daddy also has angst, whether he needs it or not.) Not to say I am not suitably concerned about my daughter’s health and well-being, or her Mommy’s state of mental health. I just don’t see it all day, everyday. I do what I can, but as Dad’s everywhere will attest to, there is only so much you can do. Right now the best we can do is a two to three-hour stretch of time where Elaine can get out of the house. It is getting longer….maybe we can get her out of the house all night in the not too distant future. In the meantime, there has been a need for some laughter around here lately, and I am happy to say tonight it arrived in spades.
Addison is 9 months old this week. She has laughed before, but it has been hit and miss. She now seems to have it figured out, especially on the big girl potty. I am happy to report her laughter is highly infectious. Elaine has been smiling all night.

Nothing is more contagious than a baby’s laughter…and yes laughter is the best antidote to the blues….my mantra for life having a child with extra support needs is I need to get 2 chuckles and 1 laugh out of each day….even if it is because life sometimes seems like the theatre of the absurd….it has saved my sanity for many years 😉

Hi Aaron — it’s Hazel here… long-time no see, but I have stumbled upon wee Addison’s story and wanted to wish you well. I have a special place in my heart (so to say) for the cardiac wards… remember my pacemaker & those 18 inches of wiring in my chest!? Also, a little girl in my son’s class at elementary school had a heart transplant at birth and is followed up at BCCH. Anyhow, just wanted to say hello and pass along my best.
